The ''Cottage on the Common'' is a very pretty thatched cottage believed to date from the 13th or 14th century, and it was once part of the historical Hampden Estates. The original estate cottage has been extended over the years by the present owners who are the first private owners since John Hampden's time during the Civil War. This characterful house has many unique features. The accommodation is greatly enhanced by two self-contained annexes in the grounds, providing a great deal of flexibility for any family with either split accommodation or workspace in a lovely environment. There is also a thatched gym with glazing on all sides surrounded by a small rustic walled garden showcasing two bridges, two ponds, a stream and a waterfall, Further to this there is a double garage, tool shed and plenty of parking on the cobbled entrance, all on the fringes of this idyllic village.
Great Hampden is pretty rural village with an ancient and pretty church, pub, village hall and cricket pitch. For all other requirements the nearby villages and town are all easily accessible. Situated in an area of lightly wooded and open ground, the cottage is nicely distanced from its neighbours with a superb open garden to the rear providing great privacy and seclusion. The area is renowned for its beautiful country walks and there are bridle paths near to the property which allows refreshing walks to the village centre and beyond. Located high up in the Chilterns, the village is renowned for its close knit community whilst remaining convenient for access to Princes Risborough approximately 3 miles distant and Great Missenden approximately 2¢ miles distant both of which have a main line station to London Marylebone. There specialised shopping at the nearby newly built Eden Shopping Centre of High Wycombe. Buckinghamshire is also renowned for its State and Private education, details of which can be gained from the Local Authority. Further to this the level of care from the NHS is reputedly second to none in the country.
